After the return to power of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, the architect of our modern statehood, which marked a decisive turning point in the process of state building in Azerbaijan, attention to youth became one of the main tasks. The foundation of the youth movement was laid in our country. The establishment of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 1994, the holding of the First Forum of Azerbaijani Youth in 1996, and the signing of the decree on declaring February 2 as Youth Day in 1997 indicate that the state youth policy is based on a long-term strategy. Youth Day is one of the greatest contributions of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev to the youth of Azerbaijan, the appreciation given to the youth of Azerbaijan at the state level. This far-sighted policy is also successfully continued by the President of the Republic Ilham Aliyev.
Currently, there is a dynamic youth movement in Azerbaijan. The third State Program aims to achieve more effective implementation of youth policy in the Republic of Azerbaijan, support the disclosure of the creative and innovative potential of youth, protect the health of the younger generation, and increase attention to the issues of education and employment of youth.
