Regional Conference at ADAU: Preservation and Development of Our National, Spiritual, and Religious Values at the Crossroads of the Turkic World as a Fundamental Principle of State Policy

A regional conference titled “The Preservation and Development of Our National, Spiritual, and Religious Values at the Crossroads of the Turkic World as a Fundamental Principle of State Policy” was held at Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU) within the framework of the “Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty.” The event was organized by the Ganja City Executive Power, the New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ganja City Branch, the Ganja Elders’ Council, and the Ganja Regional Department of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations.

The conference commenced with the performance of the National Anthem and a moment of silence in memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

Rector of ADAU, Zafer Gurbanov, officially opened the conference, welcomed the participants, and spoke about the significance of the event. He emphasized that the preservation and promotion of national, spiritual, and religious values are among the main priorities of the Azerbaijani state. “Under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, significant steps have been taken in this field. Various projects are being implemented to educate young people in the spirit of national values and to deepen their knowledge of our history and culture. As ADAU, we also strive to contribute to this process,” the rector noted.

Following that, Yadigar Badalov, Head of the Department for the Protection of the City’s Cultural Heritage at the Ganja City Executive Power, shared his views on the topic and wished success to the conference participants.

Hasan Mammadov, Head of the Ganja-Dashkasan Regional Department of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, and Professor Nuraddin Mammadov, Chairman of the Ganja Elders’ Council, expressed their opinions on the tasks ahead. They also stressed the importance of strengthening awareness activities aimed at preserving national and spiritual values.

Yiğit Yalın, Deputy Consul General of the Turkish Embassy in Ganja, delivered a speech titled “The Unbreakable Friendship between Turkey and Azerbaijan”, highlighting the historical ties and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

Bayram Yusifov, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan, spoke on “The Responsibilities of the Council of Elders of Azerbaijan”, emphasizing the role of elders in preserving national values and ensuring their transmission from generation to generation. He underlined the importance of maintaining these traditions and passing them on to the younger generation.

Associate Professor of ADAU’s Department of Social Sciences and PhD in History, Samira Gasimova, along with the head of the Shah Abbas Mosque Religious Community, Alisaftar Safaraliyev, also addressed the conference. They stressed the importance of preserving and promoting national and spiritual values and highlighted the necessity of instilling these values in the younger generation as a crucial factor for the moral integrity of society.

The conference also featured speeches by Brilyant Asgarova, mother of martyr Rauf Asgarov, and Zabit Khalilov, First Deputy Chairman of the Ganja Elders’ Council, who shared their thoughts on the topic.
