At Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU), we place significant emphasis on the advancement and successful implementation of interdisciplinary research. In alignment with our university’s mission, objectives, and strategic vision, we provide the necessary physical and technical resources to facilitate collaboration among scholars and researchers from various fields. The adequacy and diversity of these resources are regularly assessed and continuously enhanced.
Interdisciplinary Research Centers and Laboratories
The scientific research centers and laboratories operating at ADAU serve as the primary infrastructure supporting interdisciplinary research. These centers bring together specialists from different fields to conduct research aimed at advancing agricultural sciences.
Biotechnology Center
The Biotechnology Center focuses on the application and development of biotechnological solutions in agriculture. Research conducted at the center includes the creation of next-generation biotechnological products, genetic modification of plants, and microbiological studies. This center promotes an interdisciplinary approach by fostering collaboration across biology, agrochemistry, and engineering disciplines.

• Indoor and outdoor fish farming laboratory
The strengthening of material – technical base of the faculty of veterinary medicine and zootechnology takes one of the main places in the preparatory work for the new academic year. Thus, “indoor and outdoor fish farming laboratory” has been created in the total area of 72 m2 within the faculty and breeding of more than 2 million in 2 types of fish have been started in order to improve the quality specialist training on “aquaculture and fishing industry” specialty. Students learn the technology breeding and feeding of different kinds of fish in the laboratory as they learn how to get caviar, how to fecundate and getting fish.

• Laboratory for cereals and legumes
The laboratory was established in 1991. Its targets include the development of varieties of high quality, productiveness, sustainability to biotic and antibiotic factors, scientifically-proven seed development of regional and perspective crop sorts, improvement of production technology and exploration of economic efficiency of organic seeds, development of methods to ensure seeds safety, the introduction of new varieties in farming practices within the climatic context of the country. The laboratory staff developed the following corn varieties: “ADAU-80” in 2011, “Gəncə” in 2014 and “Məhsuldar” in 2016, they were distributed in the country regions and recorded in the state register. Also, “Qismət” triticale variety was developed and recorded in the state register in 2017. For the first time in the university history, “Nurcahan” soft wheat variety was developed in February 2019 and was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the University and “ADAU-100” soft wheat variety was distributed to regions on February 14, 2020.

• Soil science and agrochemistry laboratory
Thanks to the government focus on agricultural sphere, agrochemistry laboratories were opened in 11 locations in the country to perform soil and plant tests.
One of such labs was opened at Soil Science and Agrochemistry Department at the University.
The laboratory tests all macro and microelements, soil agrochemical composition, biological, air and temperature properties, heavy metals concentration in plants, poisoning substances.
